Oil consumption...

A buddy stopped by so we went for a ride. Oil level was at minimum level so threw in a quart to be safe and stopped and put exactly 10 gallons high test in. Got the low fuel alarm again..so we went in.
I still have 1/4 tank of fuel but oil level is back at minimum again.
we ran WOT for awhile...is this much oil consumption normal??

Well... since we don't have an exact oil and fuel usage.... if we go by the numbers posted, that's exactly 40:1. More or less... that's what your engines need at full throttle.


Since we can assume you didn't run full throttle the entire time, then the consumption may be a little high. I would check that both of your injection pumps are set properly, and that the cables between the carbs, and the pumps are hooked up correctly.

Regardless, a little extra oil is better than lack of oil. :cheers:

Yeah that sounds about right. Like doc said, maybe just a bit high. I use about a gallon every tank, so 1 Qt per 10 gallons.

I was just wondering the same question. I use about 1qt per 10 gallons also. So I guess that is pretty much the norm.. Thanks
