Oil cable problem

GTX Ltd 98
I have a problem with the Cam,Quad?(many diff names)that the oil cable connects to,down at the front of the motor
The nut that holds the cam is loose and this allows the cable to pull to far and spin the cam.
This in turn allows the cable to release off the cam.
If I grab the nut to tighten it,I can spin it either way because the shaft it is threaded on to,will keep turning.i.e it does not seem to have a 'stopper'.
Before I pull it apart
1.Does the shaft have any sort of keyway to alighn the cam
2.How do you tighten the nut on the cam
3.There must be a setting to sync the throttle and oil delivery.Any advice on this would be great.

turn the "arm" counterclockwise, all way around, til it stops, then hook your cable to it. I can see the align markings, from the pic. If you dont trust it, then block it off/cap the oil line going to pump, and go premix.

By you saying Counter c/wise Do you mean as you look at the Photo?
If so the cable would have to run the same and it in turn would pull the lever clockwise.
A problem I have is the nut on the lever is loose and I cannot tighten it because the threaded shaft spins freely in either direction.Which mark is the alighnment mark and what's it alighn to?
Sorry for so many questions but I really don't need to cook the motor.Thank you so much.
(The premix idea sounds good.What happens if the pump is blocked off.Would it seize because of no oil?).

The inside of the cam should have a flat on the shaft... and holding it should keep the shaft from spinning. Since yours is spinning, and knowing it's a calibrated pump... I'd say to loose the injection pump, and go pre-mix... or... buy a new pump.

I havn't got my head down there yet but it's good to know what i am looking for.If it has a flat section on it,am I correct in thinking that is where the cam must fit?and be in the right position.
The oil premix sounds like a safe bet.I'll keep you all posted.
