‘07 Wake Pro 215 reverse cable removal direction?

Got the plastic lock nut off the from the stern, but its being a booger to pull out from either direction. The plastic sheathing on the cable especially at the lever end. Is corroded. Anyway, which dirction am I to wrestle it out? Found only one vid on YT, but he skipped the actual removal part.

Never mind. Got it out pulling inward towards the bow. The problem was so much corrosion causing the cable to swell right at where the metal part starts at the stern connection. Little PB Blaster for a bit, then some coarse sand paper after pulling aft and out some. Was able to sand down the swelled ridge preventing it from going thru the hole…
