So this jetski i bought, the last guy took off the oil pump and blocked it off

However, he took the two oil lines, filled them with oil i guess, and just connected them together with an "L" connector - SEE PICS BELOW

Q: Will the oil in these lines not get used up by the crankcase though?

Q: I need to connect these back to the tank, right?

(looks like he cut them too, i dont even know if they will reach now)

You guys are awesome - thanks!!!

Looping the hoses will work, and in theory, it should be fine. BUT, in the real world, the crank or rotary valve seals can leak, and drink the small amount of oil in those hoses quickly.

Since the tank is still in the hull, I would hook the hoses back up, and keep a quart of oil in the tank for safety reasons. Also, with more volume, it is better able to deal with heat.

thanks!

I have noticed that the oil actually disappears after a few hours running it after i initially filled them up. maybe it just needed to fill in down below in the crank after running and I need to add some more.

If I had a leak like you mentioned in the crank or rotary valve seals, wouldnt there be oil all over the bottom of my hull as an indication?

Thanks you for the help SO MUCH! Or anyone else who also knows!!!

nope, if seals are bad, which sounds like they are, it'll flood into the journal area, come up thru the transport holes with the gas, and burn on top of pistons.
