tires have a 8 -10 year life span regardless if they have been installed or never mounted. afterwards its a gamble.

Does it have a date on it? Where are you reading 2000?

I'm buying 4 new tires and 4 new rims... Wheels are at least 20 years old, if not 28... (Year of trailer).

I got a single new tire/wheel on, just to get it home. It's home now.

Other 3 tires + wheels I pickup tomorrow after work.

My Oldest Son is a mechanic / tire tech. He looked at our trailer tires. Told us we need to replace them. They still had some mold flash on them! He says probably 500 miles on them. Had a spare with us, when one got a huge side wall / tread edge bubble. My Dad always had one spare if not two for all the trailers.

I've replaced the 4 on the trailer w/new wheels + tires. I'm going to carry one of the old as a spare... it's 16 years old, but still holds air right?

I will buy a new wheel/tire spring 2017 for the spare. I've spent enough $ today...

What, you spent enough money?

But you're saving it on the gas and oil changes on the Tesla. You should have buckets of cash sitting around.

Thanks for posting this. You just reminded me I need new tires and don't want to look like yours. We are driving 6 hours at the end of July to Laughlin, NV. It is only supposed to be 120 degrees and my tires are original from Shorelandr' in 1997.

While it's true I no longer spend $300/month on gasoline, (instead about $65 on electric)... most of that goes to pay for the car it's self :(

My wife has a deposit on the $35k Model 3. After rebate, that's a $27,500 car, that never needs an oil change.

Replace 1997 tires? Never. Those are vintage!
