i'm also getting no beeps. but when i leave the lanyard off, and press the start button 5 times i get nothing at all. i hear a faint click from the engine compartment but nothing like the starter engaging. just a faint click. i cleaned both the lanyard and switch with soapy water, but nothing

Check the battery that it has a full charge. If the battery seems low Have it LOAD tested at Auto Zone to see if it is good. Check the cables on the battery and the ground connection. It is possible that the ends are corroded.

im pretty sure the terminals are clean and the battery is good. it is nearly new. i didn't check the fuses yet. but last year it would do this sometimes but after many tries it would usually start working again but the starboard engine was running very poorly. it seemed to be firing at the wrong time which we belive to be caused by the stator so we replaced it and go to try it to see if it fixed the problem, but now no start again. just a fint click from what sounds to be coming from the computer box when i push either start button. i tried the advanced diagonostics but still no beep or start even after cleaning lanyard and post
Check your batteries with a volt meter? We had the same problem, ran the boat at the lake for a few hours, came home and the boat sat for 2 days......went to start her up faint click. Checked the batteries with my meter and they were both already below 7 volts. The MPEM will kill even a new battery if you leave the batteries connected.
A volt meter or a Multi meter won't always help because you could have lights and a horn work and show 12 volts but not start the engine. If you get a LOAD TEST, it tests the battery under load to check the cells. If you have a bad cell in the battery it might show 12 volts but not always have enough AMPS to turn over the starter. That's why you need a larger battery for you car because the starter needs more amps to turn over the starter to start the engine. Have the battery LOAD TESTED to be sure.

What the hell is going on right now with all these 96 and 97 speedsters and Challengers all having the same problem like I am too. Mine just clicks at the starter relay in the MPEM box too. I replaced the relay, battery and starter and it started right up and stalled 20 seconds later and now clicking at the relay again. All my cables are great and connections aren't corroded. This is really getting annoying.

Its spring , It has sat durring the winter corroading , so the grounds are getting week , the starters are rusting and contacts are getting poor , Nonuse will kill an electrical componant unless it sleeps in a heated garrage . If you get good at taking connections apart and cleaning them up nice and bright , then usng Dielectric compound on them you will rarely have trouble .

Dan, with all you replaced, should be no prob. Just think'n, maybe the woodruff key is bad, caus'n the flywheel to jam against the bendix...?
ok i'm finally making progress. i found out my beeper was bad. so i replaced it with the radio shack deal. so i put it in advanced diagnostic mode after the 5 pushes of the start button i get the one short and one long. then i put the lanyard back on and press the button again and get 2 short beeps. so what does this mean? bad lanyard? if so does it have to be programmed?
uh...your suppose to get 2 beeps...that is normal. Even if the beeper is bad it should start, you just won't hear the 2 beeps.
Soetimes the wires corrode in teh ends that look fine till yu cut he ends and look inside to find corrosion. Remember on ANY water craft over 5 years old, will start to have corrosion problems which is normal.

karl, i guess i wasn't clear. the only time i get the 2 short beeps is in advanced diagnostic mode. not under normal operation. the boat will not start or even attemt to start. if i put the lanyard on, it won't beep at all in normal mode. if i put the lanyard on, no beeps. if i hit the start button then i get a long singular beep, but it doest try to start. again, the only time i get 2 beeps is in advacnced diagnostic mode. does this mean bad lanyard and does it mean i have to take it to a dealer for programming?
I looked back from your first post. What is your specific seadoo? You need to list it in you avatar for easy reference for this and future problems. All the info I gave you is generic for all seadoos. For model specific info I need your exact boat year and which model.

I don't know but I am going to just let Seadoo fix it and then I am selling it. I don't need a headache like this! I will stick to motorcycles that I know I can fix on my own.
it is a 97 seadoo speedster. thanks karl. to let everyone know, it was the lanyard. i bit the bullet and sent it up to the dealer and they sold me a new one for 65 and 50 for the progaramming:ack: it is now spiining over....i just hope the new stator repaired the original problem....if not, i'll be back on here begging for help with my timing issue....thanks everyone!!
