Hello newbie here.
1998 speedster. It is at the upholstery shop gettin a new marine interior.....Should look pretty sharp when it is done in a couple of weeks.

When I put the lanyard on the DESS post there are no beeps. Both engines start and run fine. The previous owner has played/disconnected alot of stuff. (Oil injection for one).

Is there a test for the DESS/MPEM system ?

Will this cause other problems ?

Can I purchase a lanyard and not have to get it programmed now?

Thanks

I just replaced mine yesterday with the replacement from radio shack and it works great now..

Where have you got the beeper and what should i look for in the boat i got the same isssue engine start but no beep

ditto guys, im with mazda2010, where is the beeper?, what do you look for at radio shack? pictures and locations or diagrams would be completely appreciated.. thanks!

Sorry gents. My problem was a wiring harness situation. I do not know where the beeper is. If you go up a couple of posts, these gentlemen seem to have done the repair work. Also try :Check out The X4 Thread Here

The beeper is located in the top of the drivers foot well. You can get to it by opening the hatch above the steering wheel and removing the bucket insert. Look straight down and you should see a round plastic thing with two wires. That is it.

OK I found it, for all of you noobsters like me, the beeper has a plastic nut that you have to remove where your foot goes when your riding your boat, it unscrews counterclockwise its a plastic nut that holds the horn in, I was trying to remove it from the inside below the bucket inserts SMH.

Its very simple once you see it, if anything you should just put your head under the footwell so you can see it, thats what I should have done..
