Hi Everyone,

Newbie here looking for advice as to what to carry in the seadoo
on-board compartment.

Some obvious things I would imagine would be:
- spare oil (I have a 2 stroke)
- emergency oars
- tow rope/buoyant rope
- whistle
- emergency flag
- registration info
- fire extinguisher (already supplied)
- some basic tools such as ??
- and ??

Any help would be appreciated - esp specific tools to carry.

Thanks everyone

Well lets see.. I dont carry oil, or oars.. I do have the rope, whistle.. no flag. Paperwork in a ziplock bag. I think the only tool I carry is an allen key, sometimes a spark plug wrench might be handy incase water in engine, fould plug.. I dont bother with the extinguisher, I figure if I am on water and have a fire I will just flip it over.

I also carry lip chap and sunscreen, small towell. I think you got most of it coverd anyways..

tools?

ok oil is a given tools like spark plug wench, spare set of spark plugs, needle nose pliars, channel locks, and a screw driver flat and phillips heads small roll of duck tape.

bottle of water in case you get stuck in the middle of nowhere and get thirsty.

Thats about it and you'll be ready for almost anything

Be sure to have the fire extinguisher, if you flip something with burning liquid you will then be surrounded by burning liquid - that had to be a joke. I also carry 1 or 2 gallons premix because I ride across the lake to canada, sunscreen and water/snacks, leave electronic things on the shore unless they are cheap and disposable items. I have a rolled canvas tool pouch with 6-n-1 screwdriver, pliers, 10/12/14/17MM and the spark plug stuff.

Since most of my riding is on a river with shallow rapids couple miles south of me I also carry an anchor int he event of a break down to keep it in one spot til i get help or fix the problem. Also since my kids are usually on it without me, I want them to keep it where i can get to them to handle any mech. issues.
I am lucky to have tons of storage and put a bracket to hold it from bouncing around in one of the rear compartments...

By law you have to have a boyant heaving line, whistle, waterproof flashlight, towing rope, registration, some way of manual propulsion (i have a collapsable paddle), extinguisher (for any inboard engine or with any vessel with a fixed fuel tank. and i think in vancouver flares? im not sure about that.

As optional, i would carry a spare set of plugs, plug wrench, needle nose pliers, channel locks, duct tape (as mentioned before) but all in a watertight bag. I usually have a cheap multi tool too.

Thanks! Not trying to sound stupid but what is a "channel lock"?

Channel lock is actually a brand name for tools. Its a bad habbit that everyone calls them. The real name for these pliers are "tongue and groove pliers" they are ajustable pliers that have a curved end and have different notches for desired size. The best way to understand is to google "channel locks" and click on images.

I got towed by the boat police yesterday and he asked for a extinguisher a flag and a whistle and my title but im not putting my only title in my boat! maby he asked for the registration but my sticker on the side says im registered right? as long as its up to date?

Sticker may have to be matched to the owner (you) and they may not
have that capability or are just lazy and wish to powertrip.

I put a photocopy in a waterproof container or ziplock bag - I don't use
the original - same as my PWC license. I rarely carry my wallet on the water
so I have a scanned color copy in the waterproof container of my PWC license.

If they don't like it I don't care. I'll argue all day.
