hi guys and girls

im looking for advice on my gtx 97, i was given it from a family member, as it sat in a garage for a good 9/10 years not used. its only done 20 hours, 3 of which i have done this weekend.

when i was given it i was told that it was seized up as it wasn't winterized or cleaned out from the last use, so me and a friend stripped the head down, to find that it wasn't seized, so we changed all gaskets so are new, changed oil and petrol and cleaned carbs, which was fine, put a new battery in etc etc

we took it out the other week and was running fine, start first time, no problems at all

second time i took it out, was on it for about 15 mins when i started getting 12v low on the dash ( but its new? ) then all of a sudden it just stopped mid ride and wouldnt start? so had to get towed back to shore, when i got it back to the yard we took the head off to see if any damage was done, one piston a bit black but other then that fine, we couldnt push the pistons up or down tho? heat seized?

so left it till the weekend, started playing around, took the battery off, charged it a bit then put it back on and boom! it starts!?!?

so took it out again today, was running for 2/3 hours with no problems, checked engine temp and was 75 F, the got another warning light come up. oil low? but i only filled it up last week? checked oil and seemed to be more then enough in there, started back up, but it wouldnt rev more then 4000rpm, so i just took it back to shore very slowly, put more oil in and it went back to running fine??

a friend has said to me about getting rid of the oil tank, plug the pipes and just mix the 2 stroke straight into the petrol? as the oil injectors are rubbish and keep blocking up?

sorry for the long post but i really need help and advice, also sorry if this has already been covered but looked through about 20+ pages for help but nothing

thanks and look forward to hear from yous

Don't listen to your friend. There's more to it then just mixing it in the gas. It's not that simple. The oil lubes the bottom of the engine also. You just need to replace the float in the oil tank if it keeps happening. They seem to come on mine about half of tank. So I know to add oil when they come on at that point.

Just my thought anyways. But there's a lot more to just mixing oil into gas. Look up oil block off plates.

Also if you are referring to the "engine" temp 75 as the E temp on the multi guage that's not correct. E temp is environment temp and L temp is lake temp
