New (Used) MPEM blowing 5 amp fuse

My MPEM went bad (power going in but not coming out of it). Killed all the power (beep at DESS post, info guages, etc) up front.

Bought a new used MPEM. Hooked it up tonight. Put the lanyard/key on and it beeps once and blows the 5 amp fuse. I know I've got to reprogram my lanyard/key to this MPEM.

My question is why is it blowing the 5 amp fuse? Is this a safety precaution for when the wrong key is plugged in or is there something else wrong?

no, either your stator is gorunding out, your rectifier is bad, OR you got burned.

Disconnect the yellow wires and red wire at rectifier, put new 5amp fuse in, and if it pops, you got burned.

What yr/mdl doo, is it for?

I figured it out. When I bought this jet ski the VTS didn't work. The wire harness was unplugged to keep it from blowing the fuse.

I guess when I took it to the shop and they told me the MPEM was bad, they must have hooked the VTS harness back together. I didn't realize that at first last night. After I unplugged it, quit blowing the fuse.
