New to me 2011 GTI 155 LTD

We were out for 3 hours yesterday. It was perfect. We were everywhere from idle in a no wake zone, to cruise control at 35 mph, to wide open. I got 54 mph at the top.

I hear ya on getting wet. Unless you take on a wave at the wrong angle, this ski stays perfectly dry.

I actually had the digital dial showing my rpms and was just looking at the analog for the speed which went up around 55mph in sport, again with 2 grown men on, so i'll have to switch the digital dial to mph to see what that shows next time. Either way this ski is more than fast enough, didn't have on my clear riding glasses and could barely keep my eyes open wide open in sport mode, no idea why people want ski's that go 70+ mph, that speed is insane and if you hit anything or crash, good luck because that water becomes concrete at that point. Ordered a ski anchor and some good dock lines off amazon that i should get by friday that i'll be excited to put to use this weekend as well.

I also have those dock lines and you may have a problem getting them through those small slots under the mirrors. I inserted a carabiner in there and hook to that. Works great. I had to try a couple different sizes to get the largest size in those slots. I was not able to get those plastic clips on the end of the dock lines in those slots.

Yeah i read quite a few reviews stating that and opted to go with the qwik tek tow lines with the metal caribiners instead. I fig i can cut them and use as dock lines. I dont trust plastic and would rather have metal caribiners. Not sure if the metal will clip on to holes under handle bars but ill make em work.

So will the metal caribiners that come with the tow lines not hook onto those slots? i'll figure something out i guess but i plan on taking a long trip this weekend and will need to dock it.

I also bought this snap clip (caribiners) from HF: http://m.harborfreight.com/12-piece-snap-clip-fastener-set-67563.html

I used the Black 3 1/8" inch D rings and worked them into the slots ( gotta work them in, they don't just slide in). When I dock, I take the clip on the end of the dock line and clip it on the D ring. That's why I used the black D rings, so the clips fit easily. The loop end of the dock line goes over the dock cleat, but I usually tie it to the cleats with the more classical figure 8 tie off.

It works great and I can get them on or off either side in about 20 seconds. I store the dock lines wrapped and Velcro tied in the console box.

Yeah those are the dock lines i almost ordered but after reading reviews i realized the plastic clips wouldn't fit into the slots and also since they are plastic and i fear breaking and my seadoo floating away while i'm in a restaurant eating, i just opted for Kwik Tek TR-20 PWC Tow Rope with Rope Keeper (20-Feet)


Since its one rope with two metal caribiners my plan was just to cut it in half and use one side for the front and one for the back. If the metal caribiners are two big to fit those slots i'm just going to go get something that will work for the slots, or i think even if i can get the hole loop that the caribiner is on through the slot and just run the other end of the rope through that hole it should work just fine.

Got the tow lines with caribiners last night, not suprisingly they are too big to attach to those slots but as i had hoped the loop that they are connected to is quite large and will fit through the slot and i just attach the caribiner to that loop and its locked in place, cut the rope in half, taping the ends and giving me 2 10 foot pieces, which should be plenty.

Something else i did to that large compartment is i glued a rubber seal that came with the ski around it, which is supposed to make it water tight. Just curious if yours already had this on there Dave and if the newer ski's have the seal already in place. I wasn't sure what the long rubber piece was when i got the ski but my buddy told me that was what it was for, tho i would've thought this model came standard that way.

Mine already had that rubber seal in place. What did the PO have there? Nothing? Maybe he replaced the cover? One of our guys bought another cover and mounted a GPS into the cover, so he will replace it when he decides to sell. Or maybe the PO just pinched something and destroyed the original?

Honestly i'd prob say PO pinched something and thats why it was off there, was kinda weird to me that it wasn't on there and its good to know that yours was and its should've been tho. PO barely rode the ski, hence the 27hrs in 4 years so i doubt he replaced the cover and he definitely did not add anything to the ski as it was stock everything. I know you ride in lakes predominantly but i needed some sort of gps since i'm cruising waterways and intercoastals and i downloaded the navionics app for android, the $15.99 version and so far on the first use of it anyways, it worked really well and took me exactly where in wanted to go with a very detailed layout of the waterways, obstacles, water depths, tide charts etc and you name it. I'm sure you already have something like that on your boat or a real gps but worth a look on app store if not.

On last trip out by myself, got the ski up to 61mph. This was after i had already taken a trip and been on it for 1.5 hrs. It was on glass and i'm guessing maybe wind on my back idk but when i first got it out that day i couldn't get it past 55mph, maybe the ski just needs to warm up a bit but she'll def hit 60, atleast on the digital speedo so not sure if thats calibrated to precision or not. Anyways just thought i'd add that in. So far have taken it out 2x and she's rode like a dream on both trips, couldn't ask for more espec considering i only paid 6k. Cheers to a fun summer!
