Ok so i just recently purchased a 96 SeaDoo XP and a 96 SeaDoo GTX and i was told that i was supposed to use the synthetic Bombardier XPS oil and nothin else well i was wondering if that is the only oil i should use or is it fine to use other synthetic oil

Also i am looking for any advice about these ski's and where to buy parts when i need them

Congratulations, You've got almost the same combination of ski's that I do.

It would be best to stay with the same oil that the previous owner's used, providing that it is API-TC rated, since both skis have the same engine and have rave valves, it would be best to use full synthetic. I use Quicksilver PWC full synthetic API-TC in the black jug, from Walmart.

A word of caution, if you change oil from what has been previously used, you will need to drain, refill, and bleed the oil injection system.

As far as parts go, dealer, a sponsor on this site, and in a lot of cases you are going to have to buy used, from this site or Ebay.

You need to run a synthetic, or synthetic blend API-TC (low ash) oil. If you do a search... there is a bunch of thread on oil, and why you need it.

NEVER run a TC-w3 oil.

You were given good advice to only use the SeaDoo full synthetic XPS.

SeaDoo did a study on oils about 10 years ago where they tested different brands including Quicksilver Full synthetic, 2 types of Amsoil full synthetic, etc. and it out performed everything. Had much less cylinder wear and bearing wear. This was a seadoo test so who really knows. All I know is that I've had customers with over 500 hrs on seadoo 2 strokes that have only used XPS. It's proven, but it costs more, but less than rebuilding your motor.

that's where I buy, even with shipping it's cheaper (and easier) than my 'local' dealer.

You may get many people saying "XYZ is OK to use"

just use the sea-doo stuff, then you never have to think, hmm maybe that $10 I saved on oil blew my $1,400 engine up...

I've only ever run this in both of my skis. got 300 hours out of my 1998 GTX before it sucked in water from a worn out exhaust gasket and blew up on me... (had I paid attention to the warning signs I prolly could have saved the engine).

Ohh; most important thing;

ride like a chode, really close to boats, skiiers, kayackers, and sailboats. make sure to do 90 MPH within 3' of wildlife and drive up and over anything*.

*don't do that.
