New Seadoo would not accelerate

Last weekend we purchased a 2011 GTI SE 130 Seadoo. Today we put it in the water to use it and it did not seem to increase in speed. You would hold the throttle down but nothing. It then was overheating. All day we tried to figure out what was wrong by reading the book but that didn't really tell you much. We were all looking forward to riding it today BUT didn't get to. Very upset that we bought it and were not able to use it.

Does anyone have any ideas of what it might be.

im with doc...it needs to goto the dealer. dont mess with anything or they will say its your fault. It could be a restriction in water flow though. did you suck something up? look in the intake.

You could check to see if you sucked something into the pump... but if it's clear... it needs to go for the dealer to look at.

Nope it was the normal key. I thought maybe the key was messed up and tried the learner key and it still worked the same. No acceleration at all. Oh well taking it in on Wednesday. Just hope it doesn't take forever for them to fix it.

just curious...did you inspect the pump and intake grate while it was on the trailer? The reverse bucket wasn't down by chance?

We did inspect it and didn't find anything. If the reverse bucket is the IBR system covering the jet pump then yes that was down we noticed that after we tried to use it. We figured that was something that moved once we started the engine but we will see what the dealer says. Just hope they aren't going to charge us since it is BRAND NEW and we just picked it up last weekend.

The reverse bucket was down...no wonder you didn't go anywhere.

1,you had the brake on or 2, the linkage was disconnected somewhere.

Just a guess

The reverse bucket was down when it was out of the water on the trailer. Doesn't the reverse bucket move when the machine is turned on and then goes back down when the machine is turned off?

Dealer said it was seaweed and sand. They wouldn't even look at it unless we paid them. I have rode seadoo's in the past and never have they acted how this machine did if it was seaweed.

They're not called stealerships for nuthin.

Not sure about your particular model...i've never heard of a ski dropping the bucket on it's own....on purpose.

Pics would be helpfull.

What kind of ramp area did you use initially? was there seaweed floating everywhere when you put in? Usually...with somethin in the tunnel/pump area...the ski'll move...but feel terrible as the unballanced shaft attempts to spin. try the reverse bucket's spring...mine's located on the port side of the pump.

does the brake/reverse lever move the bucket up and down?

These skis "start" in neutral which means bucket down, until you want to move. so yes, bucket down is normal, the computer should then raise it. next time take photos. if this is the dealership you bought it from tell them where to stick the bill. even user error should be covered if it does not involve parts. call sea-doo HQ and tell them how they treated you.
