New Resonator or Bypass it? 99 GTX RFI

I just finished rebuilding my 99 gtx rfi and I beleive my lower port side resonator is shot. I took my ski to a local river to break it in. I first noticed that after running 30 seconds the ski would run rough and die. After removing the cover I noticed lots of smoke in the enigne and water coming in (and not from the carbon seal). Now it had smoked in the engine bay a little when I ran on the hose but I had only run it for 30 seconds or so, so I didn't think about it too much.

My question is how hard is it to remove this resonator and should I buy a replacement one or get a bypass kit (and where can I get a bypass kit?). I noticed the rest of the hoses are secured to the top resonators with glue or sealant, so I don't think this will be a walk in the park like I first thought.

mine is modified == from part #27 -- the muffler -- and where the clamp is #47 i have 1 hose to part #39
where #47 is on it -- there is 1 big hose looped up high as the other stuff was, and all the other stuff is not there

How much louder did it get when u removed all the resonators? I was just gonna remove the bottom resonator below the battery. Where did u get the hose?

As long as you don't remove the watebox... it wont' be any louder than a typical ski.

With that said... you need to figure out why it melted. Normally why they melt... it's because of lack of water in the exhaust.

I did have a large backfire when i first started playing with it. I guess that could have done something. But im going to blow out the water inj lines and check the water regulator too... ill keep ya informed

Pulled out my resonator yesterday ( cut out actually) and it was split along the back side with a huge chunk missing from the end. Guess thats why smoke and water were pouring into the engine bay. Im looking into getting 2 90 degree bends and using silicone couplers but holy cow are those 90 s expensive. Just looking online looks to be 50 bucks for two elbows and a coupler.

it goes from my muffler to the left side resonator -- fits like a glove

there is nothing else , everything else is not there

weld it up, put hose on, take off other crap -- lol

the left side resonator, the one underneath the left foot rail, is the one that was bad that I needed to take out. I looks like I just need to make a 180 of sorts from the top left resonator to the hull connection.

make sure you leave the fitting in at the end of the exhaust, its the cooling line that comes from the plate under your motor that ties into your cylinder drain hoses, that exits at the end of the exhaust

Yep, will do. Anyone know where i can get some 90 degree 2.5 in elbows for this application? I dont think regular steel exhaust pipe will handle the water too well. Rubber, stainless steel or silicone? Choices choices....

i think i have the same problem that bottom left resantor is bad

is your smoke free now? and what kinda pipes use im gana have to do the same thing
