Hi I'm new to the forums I have a 1996 Seadoo Gtx that's I got for free with a trailer included. I just tore the motor down though because of low compression and found the piston is destroyed and the rod bearing are completely gone. So what is a good option for a new motor? The motor that was in it was a 787 does anybody know a place that sells a 787 for cheap? I'd like to keep it around or under $800

Hi and welcome to the Seadoo forum.
It would probably help if you gave us your location.

All watercraft motors, buying used, is a crap shoot. At your 800 budget I would try to find a good used motor from a reputable seller such as my self. Unfortunately I rarely see a good used motor, and when I find a parts machine that has a motor that runs, its hard to believe the motor is all that good when the rest of it has been abused.

Also keep in mind you will need to rebuild the carbs, change out the fuel lines, oil inj lines, and a few other things you will want to budget for.

If the rest of the machine is really nice then theres nothing wrong with sinking 1500 into it considering you got it free. Esp if you plan to keep it a long time. Great machine, best seadoo motor built.

Welcome to the best seadoo site on the planet!!! Let me know if I can be of more help.
