New motor, starter just click, click, clicks but wont' spin fast.

Just dropped in a new motor (2005 RXT), went in pretty smooth. Got er' all hooked up, but the starter only clicks repeatedly and turns very slowly. I removed the started and bench tested, it worked fine. Charged battery for a while, made no difference. If I jump from the battery to the starter, it works, so its something before the starter itself. Any ideas. I checked the relevant fuses.

Help.

Actually I think its the solenoid thats clicking.

Check your ground connection

try jumping the solenoid with a screwdriver. If the motor cranks over then you have a bad solenoid, just replace it. If it doesn't crank then replace the battery and try again.
