First off hello i just a have a few questions before i get to wrapped up in this thing. I have been browsing your forums through google searches and they have helped me very much thank you. i just couldn't find some other things.

Machine = 1998 seadoo GTS
I replaced the graphite ring as it was cracked went smooth but i noticed today the boot on the engine end has a pin hole so i have to redo it all again. oh well.

now on to the starting issue. I hit the starter and it clicks/turns a 1/8 turn but wont crank over. With the plugs in or plug out it cranks perfect. I have tried jumping it from a box and from a car battery for a second but did not make a difference.

when i put the key on it sometimes makes the 2 beeps other times it makes 2 very faint beeps

cleaned the starter ground

Now before i get all contortionist like to get it out what other things should i try?

Try jumping it with a screwdriver...See how it reacts to that.. If not I would clean all the connections with a battery cable brush... Hows your battery.. you might also check the ground that connects to the engine via the stator make sure thats tight... Sounds dumb but it did that to me on a gtx...FYI.. you are never supposed to jump from a car battery...

It sounds to me like you have a weak battery. I would take it to an auto parts store and have it load tested.

Yep... me too.

When you have a bad battery, or bad connections in the ski... you can hook it up to a battery from a city bus, but the bad ski battery will "Sink" the current, and it still wont crank correctly.

With that said... if you think the battery in the ski is good... I would check all the cable connections. (clean and tight) also... put a meter across the battery, and try to start it. If you don't hold more than 10.6 volts... it's not going to start.

If your voltage stays up... then it's time for a starter.

yup horrible battery threw another one in and it turns over now started once but not again. It still doesn't always crank right away andi know the battery is good because it fires the other ski right up.

starter is possible...the ground and power wires sound more like e culprit. For two years my ski would clunk, sit for a sec, then crank fine. I found out my positive starter wire had about 3 strands still holding the connector on. Everything looked normal from the outside.
