New fuel float issue

I replaced my old black fuel float with a new white one at the start of the season. The issue is that the new white one I think is getting hung up on the sending units resisters. And not showing the right fuel level. I tried the float in both direction with the same results. Any one else out there have this problem? Is there a fix?

I'm thinking of taking a blade to it a shave it down a bit. And or fixing the black one some how.
Any ideas would be great!

Did you make sure both magnets came out with the old float? There could be one of them in the pick-up tube. (it would now be stuck to the new float)

Yes all magnets came out. I'm experimenting with making the black one float again. I'll post if I find a good fix.
