1996 seadoo speedster well here it goes i ordered a carb rebuild kit due to the other weekend i had an issue of the one motor not reving up past 4000 rpm and i installed the kit in the engine that was give me trouble and cleaned the other carb there was a lot of dirt in both carbs and rust when i put together the side that was causing me trouble still is causing me trouble, now it revs up fine and hits wot, but the mid range is not there, from 4500 to 5000 i cant hold a steady rpm, so i changed the pop off pressure to the black spring that was in the kit, due to a post i read about if at idle you see gas leaking from the center ring that is the cause and after that it worked a bit better but now i just tryed it and with the choke on just a little(like 1/4 way on) it works awsome just like the other engine. so with choke on like this it starts fine and revs out fine, i also tryed to turn out the high speed jet the 1/4 turn it will alow me and no difference, can there be a piece of dirt behind this jet as i didn't remove it when i clean the carbs, is this jet removable or am i just chasing the wrong ideas. are the carbs maybe not clean somewhere along the way and i missed it. oh yah and the compression is 110 psi both cylinders i know a little low but this should not cause this?

we know the compresion is not the problem it is like there is some port in the carb that is just not getting cleaned when i have them off, again when people are cleaning there carbs are they removing the high speed needle screw and cleaning from there> i am thinkiing that something is stuck behind there?

If you have only 110psi compression it is the problem, there's no point in overhauling the carbs. because even if the carbs. are perfect the boat is not going to run well or even run at all. The next step would be to rebuild the top end. If you don't you're going to get blow by and cook the engine.

mine i ok 135 to 140 i allready rebuilt carbs but there leaking and i dont get full throttle untill the gas gets cleaned out then it only hits about 6000 rpms and only 50mph when it should hit 55

If gas is leaking you need to replace the needle and seat, not the spring. Also, you need a pop-off tester so you can test the carbs after the rebuild. Yes, take everything out of the carb, jets, screws, and then use carb cleaner and compressed air to clean it completely out. Everything should be cleaned and inspected.

110 PSI is way too low, what does the other engine have for compression? If it reads the same and works your gauge is probably bad, if the other engine is higher than you probably need to rebuild the top end....

You probably need to replace the needles and seats unless you already did when you rebuilt the carbs.

Well the nipple on the pump diaphragm is sometimes too long and that can push on the lever and allow gas to leak through. The Mikuni kits have a red nipple and thats how you tell them apart. That could be your problem but I'm no expert.

If you want help on this forum you need to change your attitude. We are trying to help but most of us are not experts, if you don't like the answers maybe you should go elsewhere. Maybe there's a pay site that can help you. None of us are getting any compensation for this.

This is not even your thread.

Yes a change in attitude would be very nice. This site has helped me tremendously and saved me big bucks. Seadootbird he is just trying to troubleshoot and narrow down the problem. Its tough to try and figure something out over the internet. Lou I appreciate all the help that you and others such as Doc Honda have given me to get my jet ski going. You guys are awesome.

to get somewere in this world you got to have some attitude or you get walked over and i dont like getting walked on so sorry for standing up to get some answers

I don't think it's going to get you far on this forum. You won't get any answers from me. Congratulations, you're on my short list.
