Doesn't seam to fit the exact diameter of the hull surface.. Seems a bit small(see pics)
But it DOES fit the exact diameter of the wear ring/pump (got it from SBT for this ski)
Should I stick it to the pump, where it lines up exactly, or still stick it to the hull as recommended, and just give it a little stretch while doing so? If just placed gently against hull it doesn't cover the entire space where pump mounts.
Thanks!image.jpgimage.jpg

Ahh!! Ok good! Thanks for the reply bro.. Gonna try and splash this thing today if it kills me

Grease the splines on the shaft before you slap the pump on

Yea I just bought more marine grease yesterday. I was gonna put a little on the pump side, but I'll put it on the driveshaft side instead. Also got a new pto boot so I'm gonna pump a little in that fitting too.
Btw, the two nozzles that slide atop the pump, should I put some Rtv on there where they meet the hull? It looks like the original owner put some sort of black gasket sealer there

Yes definitely seal that up really well, I've always used 3M 5200 to seal it... Lots of guys use plane old silicon or RTV

That seal should go around the pump and then that fits into the jet support rim. Anyway I just use RTV because the 5200 is a killer to get off.

On a pump that mounts to the shoe the neoprene seal is optional, I've always used one anyway.

yea, I wound up giving it a little stretch and it fit perfectly.. I also used a lil bit of blue RTV on the two nozzles that sit atop the pump. cleaned and filled the pump oil cone as well...
BTW, I noticed on newer models theres a spring inside the cone. There wasn't a spring inside my cone and I DIDNT see one on the microfiche so I didn't use one.
Any 717's have a spring? Am I missing one?

The anti-rattle parts, (spring and teflon pad) weren't available until the 97 models, and even then I don't think they were standard on all models. Yes you can retrofit the parts to your ski, but honestly I wouldn't bother, it doesn't do much, if anything.

Ok, just making sure.. Most of the pump servicing vids I watched had that spring in the cone.. Mine never rattled too bad, and call me sick, but I kinda like the seadoo rattle.. Not sure how a spring inside there would stop the rattling anyway.. Pressure against the impeller shaft?
