Hi All,

I am new to this forum. I am hoping to get some advice and help here.
I am very new to JetSki's, so i don't know much.

I am looking to trade for a couple of 2001 Seadoo GTX Jetski with a Zieman trailer.
I attached the pic, since I'm not sure if they are 2 or 4 stroke.

Anyhow, the seller is asking (valuing) $9500 for them, he says they have never seen salt water, have been driven very limitedly! The one (two seater) has 64 hours on it, and the other (three seater) has 77 hours on it. He says they run like new.

I have a few questions:

1. What do you guys consider a fair price for these two jetski's and trailer?

2. If I go check them out, what are the main things I should do or look for when evaluating the condition of these?

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Not THAT much!

I believe those are 2-strokers, non-4TEC equipped definitely NOT supercharged. Did you post this in the 2-stroke PWC forum?

That's almost $5K each, you could get a much newer 4TEC 4-stroke supercharged 3-Seater SeaDoo for that much.

Go on Ebay and your local CraigsList sites, search for Seadoo and Sea Doo and look at what all's available the # years the #hours the overall condition and the asking price (as well as the Sale price, on Ebay if you add the listings to your Watch list and just watch a few of them sell for a week or two). You need to get some better ideas what's available in your area (local Craigslist mostly) and what's available in general (though driving a few hundred miles might get you a real sweetheart of a watercraft or two!). Spend a few weeks to a month looking and learning, the boating season is nearing it's end the deals will only get better from now till Christmas... these aren't a deal IMHO.

ps. Always always test-drive these things before making an offer! Don't assume the seller is telling you everything!!! If you can't test drive it, assume it has mechanical problems and they'll be costly to correct and adjust your offer accordingly. You wouldn't buy a used auto without test driving it 1st, how is a PWC watercraft any different?

Michael,

Thanks for the heads up and the great suggestions.
Perhaps I'll post in the two-stroke section then. I wasn't sure if it was 2 or 4 stroke.

They're both 2-strokes, one is a GTX the other a RX, looks like a nice set of ski's and a nice trailer but not worth $9500 at least not here. If they're as good as they look probably worth $5000.00 tops.

I did notice the earth quake proof water heater strapping. Or son lives in Anchorage, AK, they gotta do the same thing.

Just for comparison here's a 4-tek that came up on craigs list today.
