Need Help with a Seized motor

Hey Guys, I'm new to Seadoos and don't have much two stoke experience so any help would be greatly appreciated. Excuse my ignorance if I use incorrect terms etc. Last year I had my Seadoo SPX 650 out and battery went dead. Im unfamiliar with waverunners, towed it in with my boat too fast and sunk it. I pulled the plugs, shot all the water out, put new plugs in and got it fired up but it was really rough and would die when I gave it gas (assuming gas was contaminated). It was the end of the season so I pulled the ski out, cranked on it to get all the water out, stabilized fuel and pulled plugs and sprayed fogger in the cylinders and stored for the winter.

This year, the engine is seized up. Replaced starter and battery. The PTO and the impeller move when I click the starter. They move very little, about 1/8 of an inch per click but will keep moving as long as I click and spin all the way around. Tried spraying some more Oil fogger in but can't move the PTO by hand or pipe wrench. I also noticed I had a rope wrapped up on the shaft going to the impeller that I cut away.

What's my next step? I'd rather not pull the head off but that may be where I'm at. Is it possible it is the Jet Pump? I know how to take that off but how do I tell if it's bad? Thanks for the help!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

From what you're saying it sounds like you didn't get all the water out of the engine. There is a possibility its the pump but from what you are saying its probably the motor. If you want you could take the pump of and see is the motor will turn over.

If it were me I would go ahead and pull the head, its pretty easy to get the head off, you're going to need new O rings and gaskets to replace the head. I wouldn't order parts until you see whats under the head.

My best guess is you didn't get all the water out of the motor, and gaulded the pistons and maybe the bearings. If you do get it freed up enough to crank it will probably sling a rod. Thanks for your reply. You were right, I pulled off the head and there was still water in there. The pistons are still seized and there is a good amount of metal shavings on top of the pistons. Still can't get them to move. Do you think it's easier to just buy a new crate motor at this point? I've found them for like 500 bucks on SBT. I don't know what else I should be doing, not real familiar with small engines. Thanks again for the advice.

Good luck though. Some many threads on seized or broken pistons lately. I have two ;(

If any metal shavings have made its way down to crank that is another issue you need addressed.
