mpem interchange

What year and model mpems will interchange with my 94 657 xp its not a 657x.

I did a search and nothing really turned up. If people feel like contribuiting to all mpems that are intechangeable for the dif models we could maybe make it a helpful sticky.

What MPEM to use

With a 657 engine (657X is four wire)& accessories a 278000413 MPEM. This is Specific as a Five wire Stator ignition system. Bills86e

A 1994XP, stock engine is a 657X

i think i confused my motor up.... Im pretty sure its a 657x because thats what they came with. and my shop manuel does show the 657x in the 94 xp like you stated. It also shows in the diagram as having the 5 wire and the cdi unit. This coresponds with my eletrical box in my ski. so i am thinking that the correct mpem on the chart for 94 xp will work on my 94 xp. here is a chart for lots of seadoos and stock mpems so if people need in future they will have. thank you bill for your help. also what are the main differences between the 650 and 650x

Deck height....the "X" is 1mm higher, cylinders are the same, but the "X" doesn't have a recessed cut into the head domes. "X" is better design, and runs ALOT cooler.
