Mineral vs. Synthetic Oil in 2004 GTI LI (717 Rotax engine)

I just bought some more oil for our Seadoo GTI LE and it was in a white bottle and was mineral oil. The oil we have been using is in a black container. The container is at the lake (4 hours away) so I can't check what type it is. I do not know if it is mineral or synthetic. Whenever we buy oil, we always go to a Seadoo dealer and ask them which oil to use for our GTI LE. If the black container oil that we have been using is really synthetic, can we mix with the mineral oil?

We recently had a new engine put in our Seadoo. Now I am concerned that we might have used the wrong oil last year and that is what broke our engine. Our Seadoo has been fouling out plugs after about 1.5 days. Could this be due to using the wrong (synthetic) oil?

Do I need to be concerned about maybe switching to mineral oil? If so, I want to make an appointment with the Seadoo mechanic to drain out the current oil and start using the recommended oil for our Seadoo which is mineral.

If you are talking about Seadoo XPS oil... the white bottle is "Mineral" oil... the black bottle is "Semi Synth" oil... and the yellow bottle is "Full synth" oil.

The 720 will run just fine on the mineral oil. Also... The mineral oil will mix with the Synth blend.

Either oil is fine for your ski, but I would stay with what ever oil you have been using. I would get a bottle of each and take the one you don't need back.

Thanks for the quick replies. I will follow Lou's advice and buy a bottle of each and bring back the one I don't need. What a great idea! Should have thought of that myself instead of freaking out. We have had so many problems with this Seadoo that I am so afraid I am going to do something stupid (like putting in the wrong oil) that will destroy our engine.

Lou,
I see that you are from Lexington, KY. Are you a SeaDoo mechanic? We are always looking for a good one. We go boating at Cumberland and pass Lexington on the way down to the lake.

No, just a shade tree mechanic. I work on my own and a couple of friends ski's. I've been to Cumberland a few times, we usually go to Herrington, it's about 30mins. from the house.
