Messing up a top end install?

This weekend I am going to install my new SBT top end kit

I already removed the old cylinders/pistons, and cleaned the carbs (hopefully i installed the gaskets correctly)

This is my first engine-work project, and the manual mentions that if you dont like up the throttle cables properly then it could mess up the cables and/or engine... so am i in over my head? Is this something that should not be attempted as a first time mechanical project? What else should i pay special attention to?

I'm just worried that i'm spending all this money on a top end kit, tools, gaskets, etc... and then once i get it all back together that my engine will blow up again because i did something small incorrectly

I guess i'm just looking for some reassurance from someone who has been in my shoes

if you dont mess with the linkage arm "heims", then you got nothing to worry about.

Throw some oil into the case, to help "lube" the new cylinders, along with wet'n them up, when installing the pistons. Make sure the "arrow" points to "exhaust". Nut'n to it, bud.

i think i removed the heims when i was pulling the carbs... as of right now, i have 4 carbs sitting on a towel that are completely seperated from each other with nothing connecting them

is that bad? i didnt know how else to remove them

or maybe you just mean that as long as i dont make adjustments to the heims and leave them at the current settings i will be fine (assuming theyre adjustable?)
