Solved lowspeed vibration noise, on starboard engine. Max rpms on both barely 7000...

Hello, need some help. Two issues... 230se with twin 215sc. Noticed today at lake when idiling around the outside of lake that the starboard engine was running a little rougher than right. Rpms were about 1500 and bouncing a little bit on the tach, not much. Soon as I gave a bit on gas it was gone. Thought cavitation but was definitely some sort of vibration/noise other than. When I was trailer it the vibration was really bad. Also, earlier was running full out and couldn't get rpms above 7k on both with speed topping at 40-43. Checked throttle cable and in full both open to full at 90 degrees.

I don't know these boats well at all, so I'll throw out the general stuff. How many hours are on the boat? and have the SC's been rebuilt yet? Then there is the jet pump bearing, have you had that assy off and checked it?

Less than 10 hours on new engines and rebuilt superchargers ( last year was expensive). yesterday was first time out this year. Boat has been in storage. Got to thinking maybe water in gas, had it winterized but not sure if he treated fuel or not? Burnt off about half tank already, was gonna add gasoline antifreeze to remove some water and burn off the rest of the tank. Also, changing out all the plugs just to make sure. Haven't pulled the pump yet to check. What do I neeed to look for? I'm still green with this thing. One last ramble, sorry, was thinking about the low rpms, it's on both engines like it's hitting a wall, maybe electrical. Anyone know if way or sequence to reset the buds without having to go to dealer?

Took out today, ran decent all day, except when waiting for ramp the starboard still ran really rough at idle. Port engine was smooth could barely tell it was on. Once on trailer and pulled plug she drained a ton of water out. Easily good 5+minutes. Regarding the low rpm and slow speed here's a link to short vid of what it was doing. https://youtu.be/qhij8L88Sio
Re the vibration..Gonna pull pump not sure what to check, thoughts?? Thanks, Rick

How about another angle, do these boats have stick coils? Individual coils on each plug. I haven't looked at mine to see. As for the jet pump, I guess they're all about the same. I disconnected both cables, 4 bolts that hold on the I don't know what you call it.....deflector shield....haha!! and then there were 4 nuts back in there that held the jet pump in place. The prop/impeller is in that housing and there is a cone that covers the shaft bearing. Some have grease and I guess some have oil. That bearing can go bad especially of water gets into it. But sounds like you have an engine issue and not maybe a bad bearing or bent blade? Mine looked good and tight with plenty of grease, so I know that there aren't any issue I might have in the near future.

Maybe you have that surging issue like allot of folks have. Below 6K my 150/155 engine sort of oscillates. Don't believe the speedo. Even the guy I bought it from who had it since new, said it only did 35mph. GPS says 48mph. I'm at 3k' elevation and it does make a difference. I think mine will do 50 at sea level. I also have a K&N air filter on it. 121 hours on the boat/engine. Only been to Spokane once, seems it's low there isn't it? How many hours on the boat that you had to have both engines rebuilt? Was there a problem with them?

Hey there, Elevation is pretty low, around 1800. GPS was pretty close to speedo, GPS said between 37-40. Long story on engines, lets just say someone (previous owner) was better at sales than me. SC ceramic washer (was supposed to be steel) blew up in one, other one wasn't toasted yet but had signs of severe overheating and mechanic recommend just crying once and doing it altogether at the same time vs having a ticking bomb sitting there. Just hard because I know what this boat has done. 2 years ago the patrol boat on the bigger lake would pace me and I had to back off because lake speed limit is 55 and that was around 7800-7900 rpms, now maxing out barely under 40 at less than 7k rpms. the vid was max throttle after about 1 minute. lake had traffic but was pretty calm. not a whole lot of room for air to get in. this was at the smalle less busy lake to compared to the one where I used to open her up at. Changed so fresh plugs in both engines. haven't checked the coils, mine has the 4tec with plug type coils. it's on the to do list tonight along with pulling the pump and inspecting.

Solved!! All the issues were tied to one exhaust hose. Took back out today to find out why I was taking on so much water, was thinking gonna be carbon seal. Was the exhaust hose that leaves the back of the boat. Completed detached, mechanic didn't snug hose clamps. Hot rod is back. Speed hit about 55, no rough idle either. https://youtu.be/y6zNIvTT_50
