well i just got a 05 seadoo wake this last weekend, guy tried to start it for me before i got there and hooked the hose up turned it on and then went to start the seadoo big mistake on his part well he didnt know and told me that it must have a dead bat, he didnt say nothing about the hose to me cause thought it was no big deal well i took his advice on battery got it back home and still nothing, pulled the plugs and seen water, pushed start and had my very own fountian. Well long story short we got all the water out that we could and sprayed a bunch of lube in the cylinders, started it up for about 30 sec-1 min and let all the water shoot out of the exhaust. we then checked the oil and it is really milky, i called the seadoo shop they said i need to hook to hose and run for about 2-3 min to warm up engine then suck out all the old oil and take filter out and clean really good, put new oil in and same filter in and then back in water and let it run for 30 min on trailer just idling with oil cap off and it will burn all the water thats left out, then take it back out and change oil one more time and then it should be good to go, it all sounds so easy, but i decided to drop it off for them to do, he said its about 1 hour to 1 and half hour labor so i said id leave it with them, only thing they said they cant get to it till about 1 week. anyone know anything? think it will all be alright? damn thing has me so worried, them at the seadoo shop said no big prob. but never know i was worried about running it for 3 min with milky oil. hope prob dont get worse sitting at shop for week before getting tended to. thanks

If you let that oil sit in your engine for a week... you will have a rotten engine. Sure... you may get it to run after, but the damage will have been done, and the expected life of the engine will be short.

You should have got that oil out the same day you made the other post.

I hope I'm not coming off like an A-hole... but you are in an emergency situation.

I work on dirt bike engines all the time, (check my signature line) and I see this often, and most of the time, it becomes an engine replacement when it could have just been a quick clean out with a case of cheap oil, and then a regular oil change.

Take the day off of work today and clean your engine out. A loss of a day's pay is going to be less than the price of an engine.

Just an FYI... an SBT SC 4-tech engine is $2300.

Now go clean your before it's too late !!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks man i am going to call the shop today and see if they can get in in any faster and if not i will go get it and start on it tomorrow after work i cant take off any days this week cause we are jammed packed with orders that need to get out, this darn seadoo is stressing me out man, i am just worried about running it for 3 min wiht the water oil in it to get it ready for the first change ya know? thats why i took it in. also i have never fooled with it beforre so just hoping i could do it right, ya mine is not the supercharged engine its the 155 hp 4 stroke so hoping i dont have to get a new one i see there 1800, plus tax n shipping and what about instillation sure it would have to be professionally done, man i feel screwed and stressed to the max

Exhaust valves...?

I'd be more worried with the exhaust valves. The 2005 model used hollow, sodium filled exhaust valves that were prone to breaking from the stress of water ingestion. The newer models use the solid valves.

Dr. Honda is completly right on this thread. You had already done the hard work, that was to get it running and blown out. The yellow oil your worried about, stop the worry. Running the engine for a couple minutes with a little water in the oil is not likely going to do any major damage. The motor sitting for a few weeks with the water left in the oil, might.

The yellow oil is what you get when you mix the two, water and oil. When the engine sits up, the oil and water will seperate. The shop you called gave you good, sound advice. You prob should have done that. But, hindsight is 20/20. The Rotax engine is designed to flip over and ingest water. But, you have to do the preventative maintenance described in your owners manual for water ingestion. Just because you have water in the engine, doesn't mean it's damaged. But, in the owners manual, this is what you do immediately after this happens. The damage is what occurs from the wait.

The problem I have is that shop told you it would be a week... They should have also told you that you'd be better off to try it yourself or find another service center because either they knew that it could sustain major damage by sitting and charge you more money for the repair or they were completely in the blind (incompetant).

I hope you get the Wake back and do this yourself. Walmart sells a oil pump extractor in the marine section of the store. Buy one and do this yourself. Change it once and run it for a little bit. When you heat the motor up, the water will change to steam and boil out of the oil. Then, the second time you change it, change the oil filter too. You might still have a slight yellowing color to the oil but it will be o.k. till it boils free; unless you have a blown headgasket... also, the 2005 models had big problems with the exhast valves breaking. They were hollow, sodium filled and not strong enough for the dutycycle of the motor. They use the solid valves now. Maybe Dr. Honda knows more about that than myself. I've not encountered that personally, but have read it.

Don't worry about your couple minute run with yellow oil. You might not have to worry a lot because you say you pulled the plugs and blew the water out. So, most of what would damage the engine was gone. But, you needed to get the remainder of that oil out (which would be about 15 to 20%).

hey i would like to thank all of yall for all the advice and help, so i called the shop this morning and told them that i was worried about more damage to the seadoo so i was going to just take it and do it myself after work that i dont think it should wait another week, they guy said i understand man, sorry we are so busy its just that time of the year, but he can tell im worried so he will go ahead and throw it ahead of the others, so he called me about 2 hours later and said its ready got 2 oil changes and went through a burn out process and is ready to hit the lake went to get it after work today and looks good they started it up for me on the hose and showed me the proper way and everything by the time it was all said and done i paid about 230 but way cheaper than new engine and i got extra oil and i got a cleaner to keep it tip top ha, well one more question before i got i am not sure if this gas thats in it was from last year since i just got the ski should i pump it out and put all new fresh gas and what do i use like the best gas premiem or just reg unleaded thanks

if you have the means to pump out that old gas... Go ahead and do it for sure. The manual states you can run regular but advises to run the premium... I use premium in mine and advise you to do the same.

Enjoy the waves bro
