Hi everyone,

New boater here. Trying to learn from other's unfortunate experiences. What are some of the things you guys have learned the hard way with the Challenger?
I'd appreciate anything, as I've already made the worst rookie mistake (drain plugs).

Thanks.

Wipe it down after every use. The previous owner did not clean the boat very well and I had to use Zap to get the brown stains off from the water line. (Lakes are crappy in Nebraska)

Grease on the Grease Fittings, and keep an eye on the PTO boot

I blew PTO and Shaft when I got the boat as I had no idea the driveline needed to be greased. (I guess you know this if you have been around seadoos)

Where the boat meets the shaft, there is a rubber boot that holds grease. make sure the boot is there, and use the grease fitting on the PTO to keep it plumped and greased . Don't over-grease, or it will blow the boot, and then there won't be a boot in place :)

The biggest mistake I did is not to read the owners manual, I would have saved thousands of dollars, and some headaches.

1. Dont ever charge your boat battery with running car/truck.
2. Make sure to always check inside the engine bay after you start your boat (make sure no water is coming in)
3. Make sure you have a brand new battery, or completely charged battery a lot of problems in my experience is a bad battery.
4. In my own experience I always have a life vest, I almost died 3 weeks ago, AND I HAD A VEST! I would definitely not be here if I didnt have a vest.

There is my two cents, good luck and be safe!
