My battery is acting funny and I just havnt found time to get e new one... always making last minute dicisions to head out for the weekend.

unless i let it sit for 7 days it's fine. (or I left the radio on all night)

But I have jump started it with a portable jump starter about 15 times this summer with no issues.

Why is this a bad thing to do???????????

Others will jump with a more complete answer...
From what I've read DO NOT boost your ski with a battery in a running car. It will "overcharge" your mpem unit.
Charging a battery in the ski is ok if you disconnect the neg terminal first. I know it's a PITA but it's better than blowing a $900 MPEM unit

Voltage spikes, but it is normally associated with a high current charging system. The first time I started my boat was with a jump pack and no battery. :P There is no harm in using a jump pack.

p.s. our puny voltage regulators probably don't like it either

a jump pack is usually ok. it is a running charging system from a running vehicle that causes damage.

I used a jump box years ago, blew the mpem. I didn't know any better back then and had the dealer replace the mpem (probably was just the diode).

Like I said I didn't know a lot back then, but after the mpem was replaced the ski started and ran, it's been fine since. So I would have to assume the mpem was bad.
