will a jet pump off of a 1994 seadoo sp be able to be put onto a 1990 seadoo sp? i cannot get the impeller unscrewed because the spindle has been worn completely smooth so there's nothing to hold the impeller still. so i was wondering if i could get one off of a part out i found for my 1990. any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Dont' think so....

I'm going to have to say no on this one.

Although I couldn't pull up specific part numbers for the pump housing itself because they have been discontinued, I did pull up part numbers on things like the impeller shaft. Those part numbers are different.

Also, these two SP's ran different motors. The 90 model ran the 587 and the 94 model ran the 657.

I still can't say they wont' match up just that they were used on two different size motors and have different part numbers.

you should be fine any 140mm pump from that vintage will work

you might want to avoid the later plastic pumps

reduction nozzle/steering assembly might not swap Trim/Reverse options

I have a pump from a 95xp (140mm) It's on ebay right now... but if a member here wanted it... I'll end the auction. (no bids as of now)

PM me if you want it.

thanks for that hardtage. yeah, the whole trim thing isn't a huge problem, that's all in the venturi and the steering nozel, which i still have in perfect condition, so it's mainly just the reverse, but i'm thinking it won't be a huge problem. i have a feeling that it'll work.

and dr honda, thanks. i for sure am interested. i think i PM'd you. not exactly sure, i wrote on your like... profile message board. not sure if that's what you meant.

I agree....

I agree somewhat here. The only reason I stated what I did is when I crossed reference all the available parts within those 2 years, they were all different. It does not say it will not work.

I would be a bit skeptical though because at this point, this was when Seadoo first came out. In 1988, the first SP was designed and widely on the market by 1990. Those first few years, there wasn't a lot of change. But, from the early 90's into the end of that decade, BRP made huge leaps in design changes. As stated, the 95 using the 657 and the 90 model, the first designed 587.

The reason they had these difference in part numbers may be do to the engine size changes, not the pumps. But, there would also likely be a change in the progressive pitch of the impeller.............

I hope it works out. Dr. Honda is a well respected mechanic in the forum, so if he believes it'll fit, I will take his word for it.............

Thanks snipe. Good to know I’m liked.

I’ve found that the 140mm pump is basically the same. There are some differences in the nozzle… and if it uses one or two coolant pick-ups… but they can usually be made to work.

I just sent you a PM with my contact info.

new problem

okay, so my engine is seized as well. i just pulled it this morning to get to the starter and such, and when i tried to turn the pto, it won't move, and so when i pulled the cylinder heads off, the pistons were black. so, i was thinking, since this engine probably has more than a 1000 hours on it (so old it doesn't even have any kinda measuring meter like the new ones do), what kind of engines fit on the engine mounts for a 1990 sp? will a new engine fit into the same rubber engine mounts? or, because it's a different engine type, it has different mounts. because, if it will fit, i'll find a new one with wayyy less hours on it rather than completely rebuild the entire engine, because i'm not sure how likely it will be to find a piston rebuild kit for a 19 year old jetski.

that sucks, might be better off finding a whole new SP, 400-500 dollars that's running.

hell you have most of that boat apart yank the motor, was it running when you parked it?

any motor standup motor should drop in. but you'll need everything, brainbox and wireing harness. different electrics between yellow and the white motors.

black soot? it think thats common if you're using TWC3 oil in these motors
