Is this true or is dealer ripping people??

Well as I posted before I already am in the process of purchasing a new speedster from a local dealer but I just got a message from a dealer that is like 8hrs away about a price on a boat I requested like last week.. The guy said that he could do XXXX price on the boat but that one of the fees he had ot add in was for a battery as Sea-Doo does not ship their boats with batteries.. No other dealer mentioned this at all so I was just curious if this is at all true or if its just that most dealers figure in the price fo a battery.. I just dont understand it beign that it would be like buying a car without a battery.. just seems weird... Just curious to find out the truth.. Thanks

That seems super weird. All motor vehicles that I've purchased came with the battery included. They can't be charging much for that though I imagine....

It's true, Sea-Doo sport boats do not come shipped with a battery, the dealer is responsible for supplying the battery for the unit. Some dealers will "burry the cost" of the battery in the price of the boat, others will note the additional charge of the battery. Just make sure where ever you get your boat from that the dealer had the good sense to install a deep cycle marine battery, and not a standard automotive battery.

I work with a bunch of dealers because of my shop, and I have never heard about any of them needing to supply a battery. I've helped to "Uncrate" many motorcycles, and PWC, and the battery is always packed in the crate. (dry, or unactivated)

With that said... I have never seen the delivery of a seadoo sportboat, but it would seem very strange that it wouldn't come with one.

Regardless... if it needs a battery, that cost would be part of the "Set-up" fee.


What it comes down to... get a final number, in writing, from the dealer before driving the 8 hours to get the boat.
