Is it just SeaDoo with ALL these problems?

Or to other manufacturers also have forums with endless threads about how their PWC's won't run well, and difficult to diagnose?

Up until my SeaDoo completely gave up, and it had low hours. I really liked it. But, from watching this forum grow daily from SeaDoo issues, I'm thinking I'd never buy another SeaDoo again.

I'm thinkin, not that I could afford one. A Honda! http://powersports.honda.com/water.aspx?CID=LG_PWC+REPRISE+GOOGLE+LG_PWC+HONDA$PWC

I think it just depends on how it's taken care of.

I have a 97 GSX I bought new I have put in batteries. At 405 hours I had to replace the balance shaft which was around $80 (which was my fault I didn't know there was a seperate oil reservor for it). I put a wear ring in it when a ski rope got sucked up in it that was around $30. Nothing else has been done to it. It still has 146 compression on both cylinders.

My wife's GTI we bought for $1450 used from a elderly gentleman that took good care of it. We put a wear ring in it and go through a battery every 2-4 years.

We also bought a 96 Xp and a 95 XP that were left outside and aparently didn't have maintance done on them. Neither one had Bombardier oil in them. Had to put a top end on one and going to replace the engine in other one.

My opinion is if it's taking care of they last awhile and if you don't take care of them and put the wrong type oil in them they don't last long.

Of course then there is the lemon's.....

I am new to working on Sea Doo's but from what I have seen they have alot of moving parts. If everything is setup good there great. If something is off they give you fits.

My 2 cents.....

All manufacturers have their own set of problems. This forum sees a lot of action because it is truly a helpful place and you don't see many people getting on forums just to say hey my ski is running great. I think out of all the seadoos ever sold the problems voiced here are a small fraction of the skis that are out every weekend with no problems. Like hackete said it all depends on how it is taken care of and I think they do great because if I ran my car like I run my ski it wouldn't last 6 months IMHO .

I agree

It doesn't matter the make of the pwc, if regular maintenance is not performed, problems will develop in the end.
This forum is a very helpful place, and with the current economy, more people are doing repairs themselves rather than
taking it to a dealer; or they are purchasing old used pwc b/c new ones are pricey. Just my opinion.

You only see the bad side because people join forums to come looking for help. Usually it is a clueless owner who had no clue how to work on his watercraft or how to even operate it properly. My 13 year old boat runs like new and has never had a single problem. I use it about 5 times a year and do more maintenance every year then some people do in a lifetime.
