So I really hope im not the only one that has had this problem more often than one would like. I have boated ( I have a 2005 Speedster 200 ) in both fresh and salt water. Rivers, coves, bays with in the open ocean. I keep having a reoccurring issue and that is my engines seem to frequently baug down after sucking up something from the water, this can be anything from sticks and branches and other debris to discarded trash to seaweed/seagrass. The grates on the bottom of the boat seem to prevent larger items from getting sucked up however smaller things almost always seem to make it though and small debris that gets stuck in the impellers/nozzles can and has added up therefore causing one and sometimes both of the engines to baug down and they then need to be cleared before normal operation can resume. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a solution to my problem? I know the grates need to allow water to pass freely to propel the boat but are there grates available out there with more than just the standard 3 teeth each that my boat has now on them therefore perhaps not allowing most the stuff that makes it past now and causes a problem through while still allowing water to pass freely as designed.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts / help. Stay safe!

Nate

Contact your local dealer and see if they can order some if they are available. Also look under parts on this website.

You're stuck with the stock intake grate. Aftermarket intake grates have only 1 or 2 bars instead of 3 and are not available for the jet boats. Your only solution is to stay away from debris.
