I've been experiencing the dreaded cyl full of oil thing long enough now!! Will someone please give me the part # or source of the shut-off valve that most of ya'll recommend being placed in the oil line? And for one last time, haha, which hose does it go on/in? The left one, the right one, or the center one???

Thanks guys, I know you have only been asked this umpteen million times.

Its a bad idea to install a valve to the oil line. Because then there is a possibility to forget opening the valve before starting the engine and a failure occurs. If the seals are bad, then its time for a rebuild. The seals are the last thing that go bad on the crankshaft.

Bombardier didnt thought it was necessary to install a valve. I agree with them.

My gtx I clamp when I'm done riding and clip the lanyard to the clamp so I won't forget to take the clamp off. I know it's time to rebuild but got the ski for $400 and just getting everything I can outta the motor then I will just replace the whole thing. Been working for 2 seasons.

Sorry guys but I disagree with the first two responses here.

Oil seals on the center of the crank commonly fail. The use of cheap non compatible two stroke oil will hurry this along. There are many engine out there in this predicament where the compression and the bearings are still OK but oil fills a cylinder while sitting.

The "patch" for this is not to pinch the oil line feeding the oil injection system but the 1/2"(it's 12mm actually) line running to the rotary chamber fitting under the carburetors. I go to ACE Hardware and just grab a 1/2" plastic(PVC) ball valve.

Yes if you forget to open it then you will eventually damage the engine. If you forget to close it then you will have a lot of oil to pump out of a plug hole. It's not a real fix but I do know of a few great running engines out there getting by on it.

Matt, You're absolutely correct about which line to pinch off, I guess I had a brain fart.

Matt, it didn't click till I read it again. That is the one I clamp off. Unless the oil pump is leaking clamping the other line won't do any good. And what you said is exactly right. My gtx has great compression and runs awesome. Except for this issue of letting it sit and oil filling up. Can't justify spending the $ on a new motor till this one gives up for good.
