97 gti

New Member
I am just about to lose my mind!! I have 97 gti, that I got at the begining of the summer, and havent been able to ride it more then 10 min, due to issues with electrical. I have replaced the stator assembly, flywheel, starter, everything seems to be working great and I hit a wave and dead as a door nail. I blow the back 15amp fuse, so I replace and as soon as I do it blows again, and I read my manual and on this forum that it could be rectifier. I replace that and it is blowing 15amp fuse on mpem. I unplug the rectifier and the ski will run?? If I unplug stator harness and plug rectifier in no blow. What is going on with this thing?
Please Help!!!!!!!
Thanks

no, i did pull the stator and its all messed up, its the second one so im just wondering if there is a centering tool like I read, but I dont see how if its on a shaft, that has a key, it can only go on that way.

is the starter, a factory one, or some el-cheapo off ebay? You got metal shavings EVERYWHERE, grounding out the stator, causing it to pop the fuse.

Align the stator, so the "slots" are centered to its bolts.

Its not factory, its an after market one. And the stator is too, but it got ruined because of my mechanic didnt put locktite on the part of the threads that ingage into the actual housing!!!:puke: I knew I should have done it myself!!!Now Im out a stator assembly and flywheel again. The first one had the famous bolt brake on the assembly plate and wreck everything, now this!!
Thanks for your help.
