I assume these are ceramic washers?

Just picked up my first Seadoo, a 2004 GTX 4-Tec S/C with 58 hours and read up on the ceramic washer issues. Pulled it when I got off work. Is it safe to assume I have ceramic washers by these pics?

BTW, a 1/4" ignition wrench removes the rear bolt in about 60 seconds.

Definately looks to be the case, although I've been fooled before. Once you get the spring washers off and the gear off and feel the washers you'll know right away or tap them together. Watch out for the 40 needles that are under the gear.

I'd kinda like to rebuild the unit all together but money dictates that I may only be able to replace the washers right now. I'm going to sleep on it but I may end up sending it off for a rebuild.

With that low of hours the shaft is probably fine and you can get by just doing a washer swap. Just an FYI if you can get the blower outta the ski you can change the washers yourself. Post back if yah need some tips.

I don't have any concerns about changing the washers and I got the S/C out in about 15 minutes (see pics above). I am just teetering on having the whole unit rebuilt since I am at +/- 60hrs anyway.

Search for a post or two of mine re full rebuild or just washer swap.....too tired to re-post.

Do yourself a favor...go the full rebuild.

definite full rebuild, the newer parts are just better. you should rebuild before 80 hrs, imo, so you are right on schedule.

you can do it yourself to save $, it's not too difficult. if you can remove it, you can rebuild it.
