Hi, recently a few of my friends removed their exhaust resonator's on their RXP's and I liked how much nicer they sounded. Has anyone done this to an RXDI model? I searched on the forums, but was unable to find any threads regarding this modification. Could this be done? Has anyone heard the difference it makes in exhaust tone? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ever hear of the saying: Less sound = More ground ? Personally I wouldn't want them noisier. People aren't down with skis in general, and the louder they are, the more complaints.

I'm not interested in "complaints"... here in New York people have loud toys all over. Motorcycles, boats, dirt bikes ect... Its very popular up here to have a massive boat with a 454 in it that is heard from miles away. I am sure my tiny ski wont be an issue...

Your not likely to get much help on this forum regarding making your ski louder. Most of us on here are trying to preserve the sport, not kill it. There is no gain by making your ski louder. A loud ski is a nuisance to many, if not all homeowners located adjacent to the body of water you are riding on. The result will be an eventual ban altogether. Do us all a favor and leave it alone. Don't be "that guy." A ski can only reach it's speed potential when its in the water, a ski that is banned from the water is inherently the slowest thing around.

I'm sure this thing isn't going to be LOUD and ANNOYING. I bet it'll sound a bit meaner once on the water. I take offense to the claims that I'm trying to "ruin" or "kill" the sport by mod's done to my ski. Jet Skiing is about having fun, and enjoying the summer. If I don't like what someone has to say on a thread I just don't answer it... why bad mouth other peoples questions? I was looking for an answer, NOT AN OPINION. Thanks

My ANSWER was don't do it. I've seen many dirt bike riding areas lost due to sound issues and don't want the same thing to happen with PWC's.

"its replies like yours that give forums a bad name." To apply the words you used in another thread to this one, Its loud ski's like yours that give this sport a bad name.

I have a friend that did something like that to his big Yamaha. It was so loud that you couldn't talk to the person riding with you or to the ski riding next to you. He was stopped by the sheriff lake patrol because of a complaint. He wasn't doing any thing wrong and didn't get a ticket this time but the sheriff said he was over the "Sound debcible limit" and only gave him a warning. He put it back to stock soon afterwards. It also gave him headaches if he rode for more than an hour or so.

Thank you, someone who has a real answer to my question... I appreciate it "seadoobuddy". On the RXP's it didn't change the sound that drastically, but ill keep that in mind. New York doesn't have noise restrictions on the water.

I happen to agree and I am proud of the responses of my fellow members. The only thing to be gained on a recreational ski by removing the muffler is to de-tune the ski and make more noise.

Since I consider this thread of simply no value and even being a detriment to the sport, I am using my prerogative and closing it.

Since I want to be fair I will listen to objections if there are any, before closing it.

Lou
