So my trim is inop, and I think I have an idea of how to test it, just wanted everyones 2 pennies. Im going to remove the motor and hook it up to 12 volts. If it doesnt spin I know my motor is done. I have a buddy who has a spair so hopefully this is the case. If it done spin then it is most likely my switch. This is where I need help. How do I test/fix/replace the trim switch. Thanks in advance gentlemen.

No it would most likely be your trim module aka the thing that you will pull the trim out of. I dont know the facts but i bet the modules go out about 100 to 1 trim selector switch. The switch your thinking of is the one on the handlebars, right? Those hardly ever go, its always the modules b/c they get water in them...

It would probably be much easier to just buy a working one from Minnetonka4me ....try sending him a PM.

Buy one off him, buy the trim fix (google it), or you can basically build the trim fix yourself for $20-$30 with some relays.

Oh... first thing did you check the fuse? 7.5 amp one.

Thought my motor was bad but it was just stuck. Pull the armature by removing the two screws and then try freeing the gear with pliers.

A simple reason as it traveled to far so blew the fuse. My brothers is doing that cause the gauge is off and doesn't stop. Going to try this weekend to readjust it.

Question. I bought a drop nozzle kit. Can I completely remove the VTS box now? Or are the electronics needed for something else?

So last ski it ended up just being corroted wires to the motor. I just bought a new to me 96 xp the other day with non working trim. Check the fuze it was good. Open the vts box and about 2 inches of water pored out. Pulled the motor and tested it on 12 volts. It works perfect in both directions. So I know i need a new VTS boot, where do i get it, and whats the next step to make this dang trim work?
