How much fuel do I need to get started?

I just took my 1999 GSX RFI out of mothballs. It's been out of use for about 6 years.

Replaced battery and plugs. Siphoned out gas.

I put about three gallons back in. Is that enough to get the fuel flowing again or do I need to add more?

I'm being cheap since I'm planning to sell it ;-)

that should be enough. I would also add oil to the fuel to help get things lubed since it's been siting so long.

5 gallons of premix is good to run and mark the oil tank to be sure it is drinking, once you see the oil drop then just put in gas to the tank, 40-1 is good, a bit of smoke but sliding parts like this oil.

Thanks Tony.

I already put SeaFoam in the tank. Should I still add oil?

If so, how much?

Yes... add the oil. Like Voodoo said... you want to make sure it's pumping oil from the injector tank.

Since it's been sitting for so long... I would mix it up 40:1. (3.2oz per gal) It's going to smoke like crazy if the injection system is working... but it's better to be safe. Once the new owner knows the injection isn't plugged up... when he tops the tank off with fresh fuel... the smoke will go away.

FYI... SeaFoam doesn't do anything in our seadoos. I see posts here all the time saying people add it to the fuel... but then they still have problems. If the carb(s) need cleaned... they they have to be taken apart and done right.
