A friend helped me install my rebuilt 787 in a 1997 challenger. I was there to drop the motor in then went to get lunch. He started hooking up the oil lines. Being that the old motor used oil injection and i will now use a block off plate, there was an extra oil line(the one with the filter). Well, it got hooked to the engine where the pulse line for the carb goes. And since there was oil in the res. the engine filled with oil until it started to come out the rotary valves. SO, anyone have insight on correcting this? I took the line off the pulse port and am turning the engine by hand, it's pumping oil out but, taking a long time. Should i pull the motor back out to drain it?

Help me,
Eric...

Take the cyl head off, and crank it. The bulk of the oil will come spraying out. (throw a towel over the open jugs)

Once the bulk of the oil is out... you can start it. It will smoke, but it will clear out.

Please help me get my boat started this weekend...

Thanks Dr. Honda for the info. I took the spark plugs out and cranked the engine for a while. Would that be enough, or do i need to take the head off? Thinking plugs out, would be enough i put the carbs on and the exhaust pipes. The air filter assembly is still off.
So, i go to start it and clunk. I take the plugs out it cranks fine still pushing some oil, but cranking. Plugs back in and clunk, engine won't turn. I've pulled the plugs about three times, cranked the engine to get more oil out of the cylinders. The battery tests ok, load tested to 500 cca. The starter has an SBT sticker on it not sure how new it is? I would guess less that 2 years old.
Today is done, someone help me try to get this boat going.
Thanks...:willy_nilly:

yeah, remove the spark plugs. Depending on, who rebuilt the motor, you could void the warranty, if you pull the head cover off, and anyway, that wont be anymore effective, then just blasting it thru the plug holes.

Just keep cranking, eventually, all will be out. Probably need a few sets of spark plugs, with the oil that will then come up, once its fired.
