hi i was on the lake last nite super calm taking a ride to check a fishin hole, on the way back everthing good and i was going full throttle and felt the boat jerk a bit then the engine just quit. No overheating light just quit. I tried to start but would not, there is gas going to the plugs , it was turning over but eventually i think the battery quit because it didnt even turn over just a clicking noise when i try to re-start , there is the 2 beeps and the lights for the front of the boat the red/green light is bright and the fan and pump works ...so i did go through a weed bed would that have anything to do with the sudden stall... oh well have to go pik up the boat on the beach as i had to paddle close to home but anyways any ideas in what else to check, thanks in advance

Normally when you suck some stuff... it will run strange... but it doesn't stall the engine.

All you can do, is gett he boat out of the water, and check the pump. THEN... check the compression.

hi i just got back tried to start the boat again but there is just a clicking noise lots of battery power i was reading some threads and couldnt find what i was looking for so is there a process of elimination as in how to check why it wont start. when the engine quit i tried to start it was turning over but after 10 mins of trying the starter would kick the engine over, so what tool do i need and how to check compression , also im new to the boat so thanks again awesome site

If its not weeds in your jet pump, check/change your spark plugs. Or maybe the engine was running off of the battery until it (the battery) went dead, try charging your battery fully and see if it starts then check your stator and rectifier.... This problem may be electrical in some way....... No matter what I suggest go with Dr. Honda's suggestions first, hey has dug me out many times!!!

i checked all fuses , good the battery good im like new at this but i heard a clicking noise on the fuse panel in the back those fuses were good but the black circular part where the red battery lead hooks up to and when i tried to start that black piece is hot and doesny crank it over i hope this make sense

i was able to get the boat starter going i was moving some wires and i tried the start button and is now turning the engine over but still wont start , i put ne w plugs in but still a no go i will continue to read but any suggestions thanks

ok so i tried again still turns over wants to start but i dont think there is any spark to the plugs everthing else is working , narrowed it down to the plugs so what iam i looking at cost wise for a cdi or what ever the thing is called to get the spark...thanks

ok me again did some thread reading again went back to the boat so still new at this so like i said checked all the fuses compression is good just that there is no spark on the plugs. they r new , there gas there so just no spark so for the 96 challenger 787 what m i lookin for to get the spark. i read some threads but most were for the the sea-doos ,not the boat....so anyways is there a cdi for this boat ... ok thanks again in advance for replies

are you sure the battery is completely charged?

i just bought a brand new battery last month put a charger on it today and completely charged took the plugs out and tried to get a spark on the top the engine did it at night did not see any kind of spark i could feel lots of compression so , there is jus no spark fist time owninga boat like this and thanks for the reply

lol, is your fuel valve to set to on? or is it set to off? Now I know some people dont like what Im about to tell you because is not recommended however, I read on here that you could add half cup of gasoline into each cylinder hole, put the plugs back in, and try to start iut, it worked for me! BUT YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY IS 100% CHARGED, and it doesnt matter if you bought it last week. Believe me it happened to me, so I learned my lesson about my battery.

I also used sea doo storage fogging oil, lo and behold, it was great, it says there that you need to spray that in your cylinder holes for 15 seconds each hole, it gets everything lubricated in there and also I was able to get some spark!

before he blows himself up, are you sure you meant 1/2 CUP, not like 1/2 teaspoon?

ok well i didnt blow up lol got the battery fully charged i press the start button get my 2 beeps engine turns over but wont start so there is no spark...so what do i check that is easy to eliminate......

If you hit some weeds or a hard object and the engine quits, you may have a sheared or broken the flywheel key. You would have to be able to get at the flywheel to check it.
