I bought a 2005 GTX at an auction. It had .2 hours on it. Yes .2 hrs.
I just took it to the lake. It has no power. When you gun it, it goes to
6ooorpm, and goes 30mph. Any ideas?

Did you receive two lanyards. One could possibly be the "learn key" which will only permit it to run 30mph.

Just a thought!!!

The wear ring needs replacement. What happens is the Clearance between the jst pump wear ring and impeller is too big allowing the RPM's to go to max and not have the torque to go fast due to pump pressure too low.

Wear Ring clearance for ALL 4-tec 0.035 mm or ( .014in)

Measure the clearance at the center of the impeller blades, with a 12” long gauge. Measure the clearance from the venturi side of the jet pump.

A bad wear ring will most only affect the hole shot....but a bad impeller and wear ring combo will affect both hole shot and top speed. I don't know what normal RPMs are for non supercharged engines, but 6000 seems about where it should be to go about 55mph.

TO rule out the learners key, what color is the Floaty Seadoo thingy on the lanyard? It should be yellow, white ones are learner keys.

Also, how do you know it has .2 hours? Mine only says the hour, no decimal places.

It does have a direct drive to the pump and if the engine reaches 6000 rpm it should go faster than 30. If it was the key it would limit the rpm's it doesnt have a tranny
