I too like a previous poster am getting a High Temp/Maint indication and the engine won't start. I removed the spark plugs and tried to turn the engine by hand but it won't budge. I don't think it really ever over heated though. I have a few questions. 1) How do you reset the computer to clear out the message? It still indicates over heat even though it won't start. 2) is there some type of locking mechanism to not allow the engine to start while an over heat condition exists? 3) Can something else be binding up the engine such as a starter or something that prevents me from turning it by hand at the flywheel? Just looking for some other reason before I assume the engine has seized. Thanks for any help!

If the spark plugs are out and you can't turn it by hand at the jet pump shaft, It is seized. Time for a tear down. There is no mechanism that allows it to not turn over.

Ok, I ripped apart the pump and found the cone end cap all melted and a mess so I think it's the pump and related bearings that are seized. I can't figure out how to disconnect the drive shaft so I can pull the entire pump assembly off. Advice please?

The drive shaft isn't attached to the pump. If the bolts are off, the cooling and bailing hoses are disconected... and if some hill-billy mechanic didn't glue the pump to the hull... the pump should slide out.

Thanks Tony. The bolts and everything associated are off and the housing is loose. I think the bearing got so hot (all the plastic around the end cap/cone was melted) it has seized or fused to the housing and therefore I can't slide it out. Not sure how I am gonna get this apart. I was hoping there is a way so slide the entire drive shaft out and then disassemble things once its out. Any thoughts?

Ok-I was able to slide the pump out and it's totally locked up. At least the engine turns free now! So I guess a new pump assamply and I'm good to go.

It will be cheaper to maybe rebuild the pump, then the engine.

Yep Karl, it should be and a whole lot easier (in my opinion). I was trying to locate an entire new pump assembly but the way it looks, I have to order all the individual parts and then do the assembly. I guess I got me a winter project!
