Hello everyone,
I'm new here so if I'm in the wrong place please let me know.
I have a question. I need to repair the scratch on the bottom of my 2002 gtx. The bottom is black. I'm not sure what or where to get it. I've been doing some research but I keep going back to square one... the gelcoat is missing down to the fiberglass but the fiberglass isnt damaged. I believe I just have to clean it up and apply the gelcoat.

Thank you all

I used FGCI coatings FGCI | Fiberglass Coatings for all my gelcoating work. They sell anywhere from gallons to small repair kits. You may want to block off a section get a quart for about $45 and brush on a couple coats.

To prep, sand the area with 150 grit, then wipe acetone on the area before applying. You can apply using the brushable product, follow the ambient temp guidelines on mixing in the MEKP catalyst, do it to the T to so it'll cure properly. I was usually waiting about 30 - 45 minutes betweeen coats. Then next day wet sand the waxy surface off then keep working until the pitting is gone. Then work with 400 grit up to 2000 grit, then polish, glaze, then wax. I used 3m products.

See the RESTO and Re gelcoat threads in my signature block for details. I did the entire hull top/bottom on the 97' GTX and partial on the bottom and complete topside on the 96' GSX.

Wow I like the blueish one looks amazing. Thanks I'll look it to that is there a special gelcoat black I need... I would really like to do the whole bottom but I think I would make that a winter project.

Oh, it's serious back breaking hours getting into full gelcoat work, I purchased the 97' GTX in July 2017 and on the water in July 2018. Picked up the 96' GSX in May 2018, on the water 2 weeks ago... Cosmetics can get expensive and it's tedious hard work, but well worth the overall ownership satisfaction.

I can just imagine, even bolts breaking cause of the year of the machines. I have around 10 seadoos. From 95 to 02. And bolts like to break all the time.
