2011GTS130

New Member
Guys I rolled my ski recently and started it back up. This thing is brand new and has 2-3hours on it. It smoked a for a minute or two then seemed to run fine. Initially it was hard to start. There was water in the engine bay so I pulled the plugs immediatley once on the trailer. I have checked the oil today (3 days later) guys and was told to check for water. I am no mechanic so I cant tell if there is any water in the oil. It seems thin compared to car or truck oil though. Is this normal? Also, I think I smell some gas on the dip stick.... PLEASE HELP. I'm going to try to take it to my dealer but the guy told me it would cost approximately 300 just to service it. I don't have the luxury to throw $300 out there although I know if it's damaged it can cost MUCH more. It's a 2011 GTS 130 4t.

I'm pretty sure your okay, definately would smoke after being upsidedown and be a little difficult to start so that totaly expected. I was asking a BRP tech at the marina up here about a similar subject last year. I was wondering how robust the 4stroke 4tecs are vs the older 2stroke motors. In that you could literally operate the 2stroke motor upsidedown. I was wondering how the 4tecs handle the abuse, he did say that the 4tec is extremely robust and can handle rollovers, jumps, flips etc. I would keep an eye on your oil level and examine your intake for any water intrusion and follow your manual for instructions on water intake service. Hope this helps!

ya man when i had my 4stroke i got water in the oil from the water hose, you will know if there is water in your oil it will be really milky looking, if its a dark brown to black color and it is running good do not stress over it, you could pull the plugs and push the starter a a few times and see if anything shoots out like water lol but i bet your just fine, he how fast does that 130hp 4tech go

Well I was still breaking it in but for the little bit I did "get on it" It was fast. I didn't pay attention to my guage but it seemed really quick. ;) The oil definitely isn't thick or dark brown or black. It is thin... at least I think so. Do you think a service will possibly remove any doubt? I am worried sick. If I service it now at the dealer does it mess up my "break in" period of 10 hrs by chance?

If water got in there they usually have to change oil and filter 2 times and let it run for like 30 min with oil cap open to burn off any water. But I don't think you did man. It would ride rough and oil would look like chocolate milk. Idk if you ever seen oil and water together but they don't mix. You could go get your oil change early won't really hurt anything and they can tell you if anything is in there. Also like I said pull the plugs and push start button if water shoots out the plugs u got a problem lol.

When I had eyed in the 4 stroke I had it shot out a lot of water.

Thanks brandon. I appreciate the info. It's like gold for me right now. And is that what happened with yours? I mean the changing oil and filters twice???

If the oil is goldish brown to black and u can see threw it lightly u should b fine man. Ya well I got the ski and the guy tried to start it b4 I got there by hooking hose up. He turned water on first. Big mistake. Well he swore to me it worked and prob just battery so knocked 100bucks off. I got home n pulled plugs and water everywhere. I called him and he said take it to shop and he'd pay. I was gunna do work myself but he paid shop they said you just got to change oil n filter and leave oil cap open. Back in water on trailer and run for 30 min. Smoke will come from oil cap because burning water. Then change oil n filter and new plugs and wala, 200 bucks later ha.

Was this a Seadoo dealer? or a shade tree mechanic? The reason I'm asking is labor and cost. The dealer guy told me it would be like 300 bucks to service it after what I told him. I will try the spark plug thing tomorrow. The oil just seems thin.

This is a seadoo dealer he charged me hour n half labor plus oil n filters n parts. They are a great dealer and will tell you how to do things on your own and give advice. There not just after your money. I think the oil will look thin since its still fresh and new. Water would thinkin it up
