Here's the story...just bought a brand-new leftover 08' RXT X...took it to dealer after 10hrs for routine check...no issues. Took it out on the ocean a day ago for 2-3hrs. When leaving the ramp I notice a almost creamy cofffee looking oily water coming from the rear drains. Go home and do my routine flush/cleaning...when I open the engine compartment I notice the engine oil cap has been left off by the dealer!

It's obvious I lost some engine oil...the dipstick looks ok.

My fear is there could be some salt spray/water in there now.

Help!

As you can imagine I am steaming right now, awaiting call from svc manager. What do you recommend/request from the dealer?

I cannot fathom any way water could have gotten into the engine thru the oil filler unless you sank the watercraft (ie. let it fill up with water to the top of the engine). But, it does sound like you may have an oil leak.... that creamy colored water that drained out the bilge had oil in it! There should still be an oily residue inside the hull... do request that a DIFFERENT mechanic at that dealership look at it and check everything that was done there previously, as it sounds like the last mechanic who had his hands on it sucked!

Your engine is likely just fine, want to know how engine oil is getting out of the engine now though as that's going to be a problem in the future... if the dumb-butt couldn't remember to put the oil cap back on, what else did he screw up?

yeah i agree, i would think its all ok. BUT i would call them and make sure they do something about it. It needs to be in writing somewhere in case you have problems down the road. Make them flush and clean the engine and change the oil.

request an oil change, watch them do it, watch them run it for about 10 minutes, watch them do another oil change.

this way you know you at least TRIED to flush the water out. and you KNOW they did it.
