Hello-

My name is Chris and I am looking forward to getting on the water this year with my XP that my son and I are working on.

We bought the XP mid summer last year in Phoenix (yes we moved) from a guy that started to take it apart and was in over his head (I am starting to think I am too)....

So far we have taken the boat/ski (what is proper terminology) down to a bare hull and I have stripped off the graphics. The plan is to do a gel coat color change (I know a guy!)... This is where my questions come in... I have noticed in doing online research that there are several parts that are not available for this model year, however, it looks as though 96 parts are still available... The hulls appear to be similar shapes... 1) Can you use 96 and later on a 93? 2)Who makes a good rebuilt motor out there? 3) Besides the SELOC manual and the one I found online, are there any other good resources with pictures to put it back together? and finally 4) Who / Where can I send out my electronics box to test it to see if it even still works (and if its broken, where to get another)...

I am a quick study and I own a 2002 Crownline as well so I am familiar with marine terminology and boats...

Hi and welcome to the SeaDoo forum.

While the 93XP and the 96XP may look similar, they're two very different ski's. The 96 is an X4 hull which came out in 95 also different motors, different electronics. Some of the upper deck parts, hood, seat, etc. may interchange but that's about it.

I have found that google is your best friend when trying to find parts interchangeability, go to "PARTS" at the top of this page, find your ski, and find the part number then google the part number. Also there are a couple of guys on the forum that sell good used parts at a very good price [MENTION=41828]Minnetonka4me[/MENTION] and [MENTION=46279]99spxxx[/MENTION].

Manuals, the best manual is the official SeaDoo service manual, which you can download from this site if you join as a premium member, or you may be able to find it elsewhere.

Engine rebuilders, I like SBT, but for you shipping might be a problem, they're located in Florida, someone else will probably have a recommendation for a shop closer to you.
