Hello. Till now I have had a 1988 waverunner, its still going. However I purchased a 1999 gtx rfi it has the 741.6 engine and a 2001 rx rdi 951.2 engine
On the titles it says the 99 has 110hp
The 2001has 135.
My question is why does the larger seadoo the 99 gtx go faster with a smaller engine than the 2001 rx with the larger engine.
Could it be the impeller? Keep in my mind my rx has vts but is not working so I know that could effect things.i have ordered parts to fix the vts.

Here is pucs

Yup, those speedometers are what we call,,"happy",,,,you need your GPS,,,or,,,what my close racing bud and I have done for years, is to simply ride side by side on calm water, and who ever pulls away, is the faster.

I'm going by me and my wife racing each other. they are about the same except top end.
The rx speedo is all over the place, however the gtx is showing 55 mph

The gtx goes a little faster on the top end.

I feel the nose of the rx go up on take off then planes out. I figured my vtr is not in an optimal spot or did not know if like boat props if the jet skis have different impellers for low end or high end speeds.

The rx does not feel sluggish or that anything is wrong.

I'm not to worried about it. Just curious.

I will say they are a big jump from the 88 waverunner. Had it for about 17 years. It won't die.
Thanks

Longer hulls will ride better on rough water. SO... it's easier to go fast on the bigger PWC. But, since both are getting old... it could be anything. Loss of power... damage to the pump or impeller... slight air leak in the pump/seal.... or the throttle cable is stretched, and it's simply not going to "Full throttle".

Since they are new to you... I would give them both a good once over. Make sure they have proper oil, replace the oil filters, and clean anything that needs it.
