just purchased, this ski that was seating for a couple of years, purchased all the electronics, that were stolen, was ready to attempted to crank engine, checked oil, and it was good, turned engine on for a few seconds a few times to make sure that all was ok, checked oil again, and it was low, didn't think much of it, put a quart in, and it was good, cranked engine again for about a minute and found a Large amount of oil on the bilge,

Have no idea were its coming from, any help will be appreciated

Thanks

The lower grommet is a common issue as is the tank itself as it leaks at the seam. If it is that bad, I bet the tank seam is bad.

Coastiejoe, thanks for the quick andwer, is there and easy way to check or i need pull engine out ? Also the lower gromet are those on the rank as well ?

You can see the tank where it is. Sometimes it is hard to see the lower grommet but you can feel it with your hand.

Good morning to all, just checked the tank area and its clean, no sign of an oil leak. But did see oil on the hump rigth under the impeller shaft, also lifted the rubber skirt that its on the shaft and felt alot of fresh oil. Now i think i found the source of the leak, now how hard is this to fix??

driveshaft oil leak is common and sounds like what you have. clean the area good and run it for just a few seconds, then feel for fresh oil.

to remove, push collar back, remove c clip, pull pump, remove driveshaft, remove boot(black flap you mentioned) with bearing and oil seal.

I think coastieJoe was thinking you had a two stroke which do have common oil leaks at the oil tank or grommet but your 4stroke doesn't have that.

No problem, yes i clean all the oil yesterday, and had oil again today, question, i see so many tools been used on the manual, do i really need to get all those special tools or can i do that job with common automotive tools?

No,, most things can be done with "normal" tools. There are some specific things such as if you want to work on Super Chargers, remove the impeller (I would suggest you get the impeller tool), OEM Clamps,,,

A decent of the normal mechanic tools will suit you just fine.

Awesome thanks, one more question i see 2 different size impeller tool, a short one a longer one is one better than the other or its just the size?

I agree that there are two listed. 80-112A and 80-113A. I have no clue what the difference is relative to fit-ability. The 113A specifically states the years where the 112A does not. I'd buy the 113A

There are actually 3 different size impeller tools for SeaDoo and it's not the length that matters. As the driveshaft gets bigger in diameter with the higher hp models, so did the spline diameter.

I'm pretty sure the 155 used the smallest size which is the same as the 2 strokes but I'm not positive. I know the 215 and up used the largest size and the 185 used the middle size.

Ok thanks, maybe ill buy both and return the one I dont use. Once i know, i will post it for future knowledge

Thanks

If the spline count, shaft dia is the same, go for the longer of the two prop removal tools.

It will allow you to keep the nose cone on the prop instead of having to remove it and then reinstall. Keeping the nose cone on tight to the prop can be a chore. Failure to do so will allow it to ride up the shaft...causing cavitation...loss of top end...and water into your pump(albeit slowly).
