so i was looking the boat over to see where i could add some speakers and wanted to check behind the navigational lights to see what was behind them.. i went to the port side front nav light and noticed that it didnt look like it was screwed in all the way as one side was flat against the boat and the other side of the trim had a small gap.. so i undid the trim and saw what i needed to see but when i went to line up the screw i noticed that it looked like there were two holes for the same screw almost.. basically looked like someone started making another hole right against the actual hole.. i didnt think much of it until i was putting the trim back on and and noticed that the screw wasnt getting tiight at all.. i took it out and now the hole is bigger then the screw and obviously now it wont tighten.. is there any wayy to fix this?? or do i just have to get a bigger screw.. i mean i know if i cut the speakers in i could probably throw a nut on the back but until then its just hanging there and i know that cant be good for the remaining screw thats in there.. any ideas???

Quick fix

I had a similar situation with my speakers near the floor and I used a couple of those small plastic anchors for drywall or plaster. Nice and tight now.

Mine looked like swiss cheese under one. Best guess was they had a template and didn't line it up right....or the boat was built late in the day on a Friday !

If it was me, being your boat is new, I would take it to the dealer. Do it before you go making new holes. Just tell them it fell off and the holes looked f'ed up.

Other than that, I would just use a different bolt with a nylock nut on the back after you make the hole for your speakers. Make sure you use all stainless hardware.

Yea.. I wasnt sure if they would even warranty it or just try and put the blame on me being that it is "cosmetic" not an actual boat malfunction or whatever.. the only bad thing is that the boat only has 4 hours on it and i already had the "Sensor" issue which the dealer said that as long as the boat was running ok to just wait till i have the 10 hour service and they will take care of everything then.. so now im just nervous to take it out being that it wont hold down very good and if water comes up that far and gets behind the light idk what will happen..
